In this letter to Aida Abella, Manuel Zapata Olivella poses the idea of developing activities in local schools to disseminate the meaning of Colombia's multicultural and multiethnic identity as defined by the new constitution (issued in 1991). The proposed program of activities includes a conference on the historical roots of cultural mestizaje, and a workshop on traditional Colombian ethnic groups.
